Storytime with Cedar Pruitt
Join us for Sunday Storytime with local author Cedar Pruitt. She will read her book Fire Flight: A Wildlife Escape! Storytime begins at 11:00 AM.
Attendance is free, no RSVP required!
About The Book:
Flames consume a forest, and an owl seeks refuge. Helicopter wings chop, and water drops to drench the branches below. Using spare, lyrical language, this debut picture book takes readers inside the journey of a screech owl that fled the flames to ride along with a firefighting helicopter during the 2020 California Creek wildfire. Vivid imagery highlights the fear and danger of the experience--as well as an astonishing moment of connection.
About The Author:
Cedar’s debut picture book, FIRE FLIGHT: A Wildfire Escape, illustrated by Chiara Fedele, is now available wherever books are sold. Published by major educational publisher Capstone Editions, this book explores an owl’s real-life flight out of a California wildfire and right into a surprise that made headlines around the world.
Her second picture book, WHAT MARCEL FOUND: The Incredible Discovery of the Lascaux Cave Paintings, illustrated by David Litchfield, is about the brave kids who made an astounding discovery that forever changed our view of humanity, and will be published by Beach Lane Books at Simon & Schuster in Summer 2026.
When Cedar isn’t writing, she works as a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) facilitator. She holds a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University and lives with her family in Massachusetts.
